Bryant E-News Happy Thanksgiving 2015

Dear Friend:

Rep. Bryant and her family!
Tis' the season for Thanksgiving! This year, I want to extend my thanks to you, the people of the 115th district for the opportunity to serve you in Springfield. Though Illinois is facing some of the biggest challenges in its history, the people of Illinois are strong, and they do not waiver. We are all blessed to live in a state rich in natural resources, rich in industry, and rich in the strength of the spirit of the people of this great state.

I am thankful particularly for my family, especially my husband Rick and my children Tara and Tyler. I am blessed to have their support and I hope that however you celebrate Thanksgiving this year, you take the time to tell the people that are important to you how much you appreciate them.

I am also so very grateful for my four healthy, happy, and BUSY grandchildren. However you choose to celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday, I want to encourage you to take a moment to let the people in your life know just how much you treasure them.

A Look Ahead...
On December 2, I will return to Springfield for another legislative session day. When we were in Springfield last, a bill was passed that would have directed motor fuel tax revenues, 911 taxes, and a host of other funds to the local governments that rely on them. Shortly after the bill, HB 4305, passed, a procedural hold was placed on the bill by a member of House Speaker Madigan's leadership team. In a purely political move, the House Democrats are now holding hostage the money that you pay in taxes when you fill up your gas tank and pay your phone bill. That money is supposed to go to units of local government that provide essential services like building our roads and providing emergency response.

When I travel to Springfield, I will continue my call for Speaker Madigan to release his hold on this bill and to allow for this badly needed revenue to flow to our local communities. We are going on our 6th month without a budget, and headed in to a new calendar year. It is time for the Chicago politicians that control the General Assembly to work across the aisle to reach compromise. Illinois deserves better than the same old political games that have wrecked havoc on our economy.

Stay Connected!

I want to invite you to visit my webpage at www.repbryant.com to stay up to date on all the latest news involving the legislature. I am proud to announce that we have recently passed the 15,000 web page views mark with our announcement last week that I have introduced new legislation to study the effectiveness of work camps on reducing crime and the prison population. I am also proud to announce that I have introduced a bill to reopen and repurpose the shuttered Murphysboro youth work camp. This move will relieve pressure on our crowded prison system and provide much needed employment for Southern Illinois.
